Luke Jacobson, the All Blacks back-row, has been appointed as captain of the Chiefs for the upcoming 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season. He takes over from Sam Cane and Brad Weber, who are currently not with the club. Cane is on a short-term deal in Japan and will miss the entire Super Rugby Pacific season, while Weber has joined Stade Francais in France. Jacobson, who has over 50 caps for the team, sees his new role as an opportunity to push for a more prominent role in the All Blacks team. The Chiefs' head coach, Clayton McMillan, expects Jacobson to leave his own mark as captain. The Chiefs will begin their Super Rugby Pacific campaign against the Crusaders on February 23.
